FAQs

  • Yes, I have full public liability insurance (£5 million) with Premium Credit.

  • Yes, I have had a DBS check showing no record of convictions, cautions, reprimands and/or warnings. Certificate Number: 001129659033.

  • Yes, before any dog walk is booked, I will come and meet you and your dog(s). The purpose of the visit is to ensure that both parties feel happy and comfortable and to discuss your requirements, as well as getting to learn as much about your dog(s) as possible, their likes/dislikes as well as commands you use. This information will help me to plan suitable walks for them. I will also provide you with a registration form and off lead consent form to complete.

  • I cover Hastings, Bexhill, Battle, Brede, Rye and the towns/villages in between each of these locations.

  • All walks will take place in and around Hastings and the surrounding areas, including the beach, woods and countryside. I will vary the locations to provide variety for your dog and lots of exploring to take place. After each walk, I will send you a map of where we have been, as well as pictures of your dogs adventure.

  • I will walk a maximum of 5 dogs (including Coco) on each walk. I will ensure that temperamentally as well as geographically the dogs are suitable to walk together. If there is an imbalance within the group, I will make changes and notify you of my decision. Group dog walks are a fantastic way to socialise your dog and build their confidence but if you would prefer your dog to be walked on its own, I also offer 1:1 walks.

  • Yes, but only with your written consent and once I can be certain that they will follow recall commands. The first time I take your dog off lead will be in a secure field to ensure that your dog will not run off and to allow me to practice their recall. Treats can be given if this is something that works successfully.

  • The short answer is yes, however, there are some exceptions. In extreme heat, I may firstly ask to change the time of the walk to early morning or early evening to ensure it is not too hot. Walks will then only take place in shaded areas such as the woods and plenty of water during and after the walk will be provided. If this is not possible then the walk will be cancelled (at no charge to you). If it has been snowing and the roads are impassable or it would be dangerous to try and collect your dog, then the walk will be cancelled (at no charge to you). In wet and/or cold conditions, I may ask you to leave out your dogs coat or equafleece/drying coat, if you own one to ensure that they do not get too wet or cold, particularly in the winter months. If you do not own one of these, that is not a problem as I have plenty of towels and your dog will always return home clean and dry regardless of the weather.

  • I can walk your dog as often as you like. Dog walks will take place Monday – Friday. There will be two group walks available, one in the morning at approximately 10am and the second in the afternoon at approximately 1:30pm. 1:1 walks / garden visits can be arranged around these times. Weekends and bank holidays can also be arranged, subject to my availability.

  • No, it is Coco’s Walks policy not to take dogs out when they are in season, however, I would be more than happy to arrange garden visits, where I would let them out to go to the toilet, play with them and provide them with food and water.

  • No, many customers are happy to provide me with house keys, which allows me to collect and drop off your dog whilst you are out. All keys will be kept in a secure location and away from personal information and only be marked with your dog’s name. As previously mentioned, I have a clean DBS check (reference number above) for your own peace of mind.

  • I have a fully insured van with a clean driving licence (held for 20 years). The van is fully insulated with four dog cages, which have rubber lined floors to ensure the dogs do not slip. There is also a cooling extraction unit to ensure that the dogs are well ventilated during transportation.

  • Payments can be made weekly or monthly depending on your preference. I will send you an invoice and payments can be made via BACS. For monthly payments, the invoice will be sent out on the second to last Friday of the month.

  • If you need to cancel a walk, I will require 24 hours' notice, otherwise the missed walk will be charged at the full normal rate.

  • In an emergency, I will contact you immediately to discuss the situation and if you are unavailable your designated emergency contact will be called. If your dog requires veterinary care, then I will transport them to their veterinary practice or the nearest vet depending on the circumstances. Please note, that I have completed a canine first aid course and will always carry a first aid kit.
